Title couldn't say it all. We have deluded ourselves into believing the myth that capitalism grew and prospered out of the Protestant ethic of hard work and sacrifice. The UNDENIABLE fact is that capitalism was built on the exploitation and suffering of black slaves and poor peasants of any color and continues to thrive on the exploitation of the poor — both black and white, AND EVERY COLOR, here and abroad.

^^^^^^^^^* “Our civilization is being sacrificed for the opportunity of a very small number of people to continue making enormous amounts of money. Our biosphere is being sacrificed so that rich people in countries like mine can live in luxury. It is the sufferings of the many which pay for the luxuries of the few.” — Greta Thunberg, in a speech at the UN Climate Change COP24 Conference, 2018

The simple undeniable fact about capitalism is that it has resulted in an extreme reduction of world poverty over the last 150 years. [view link] There is no doubt that parts of America and other "first-world" nations were built by slaves and exploited peasants, and this is deplorable but this isn't inherent to capitalism. Communist regimes have exploited the poor and used slaves too.

The simple undeniable fact is that cj doesn’t know what the word undeniable means. UNDENIABLE

@RonJax2 Imperialism and capitalism (and many other isms) are inherently exploitative, alienating, unstable, unsustainable, and creates massive economic inequality, commodifies people, and is anti-democratic and leads to an erosion of human rights and national sovereignty while it incentivises imperialist expansion and war, and that it benefits a small minority at the expense of the majority of the population.

@drewcareypnw un·de·ni·a·ble adjective unable to be denied or disputed. "it is an undeniable fact that some dogs (and humans) are easier to train than others"

What is really UNDENIABLE is the fact that C. J. Kunt’s favored countries like Russia, China, and the rest of the commie countries practice a much more predatory form of capitalism than the United States and its free allies. Capitalism as practiced in the free world is much more beneficial to a broader society’s economic benefit, the proof is the size and reach of the middle classes in democracies around the world.

    >Imperialism and capitalism CJ, again you're conflating two things that aren't related. Imperialist nations aren't always capitalist nor are capitalist nations always imperialist. Consider Russia's imperialist invasion of Ukraine. Or consider the Uyghur genocide ongoing in China. Consider also the relatively calm and prosperous life capitalist Europeans have enjoyed post WWII due to free trade and migration.

@RonJax2 “Imperialism by Any Other Name” “During the rise of American imperialism, its defenders would point to the “manifest destiny” of the country and justify imperialist expansion with the “mission” the nation had to spread its civilization in those parts of the world yet unconquered. The methods employed in this imperialist expansion were varied, depending on the amount of native resistance, the degree of competition with other powers and the specific aims of a particular adventure. But whether the policy was identified as “spheres of influence,” “armed intervention,” “political regulation,” “acquisition without annexation,” or “conquest and purchase,” no one doubted in the least that it was imperialism.”

She has inherited over $10 million from her family's estate. Interesting, it seems Greta Thunberg herself is one of those very small number of people she alludes to who continue making enormous amounts of money.

In 2018, Greta claimed the world would end by 2023. Well, we only have about 20 more days. Let’s close out the world by getting lap dances and drinking to excess.

CJ Kunt is an example of why the current educational system has been failing our youth for decades. When my children get old enough I’ll take them to a 2nd or 3rd world country and show them what their missing out on, and whenever they complain about their life at home I’ll tell them if they keep complaining they can go find a better life over there!

Who ever gave protestants credit for the growth of capitalism?
  • CJKent_band
@Estafador “Max Weber (1904) posited that, in Europe in his time, Protestants were more likely than Catholics to value capitalist ideology, and believed in hard work and careful saving. He showed that Protestant values directly influenced the rise of capitalism and helped create the modern world order.”
