To me De La Soul is the best rap group ever. Right along side with A Tribe Called Quest. Old school, back when rap was awesome. I grew up not too far from these guys on Long Island.
I feel like this is the end of something great. RIP.

Never been a big-enough fan of rap to have fave artists but I do recall back-in-the-day De La Soul used to get a lot of play on MTv especially with their song "Me Myself and I" and I recall De La Soul being held in high-regard by other artists - I also appreciated they didn't come across as thugs nor try to act that way but just avg guys from the neighborhood.
Sad he went so young.

Native Tongues. If you know you know. These guys were the exact opposite of gangsta rap coming out of Cali at the time.
One of my favorite De La Soul songs is “Run - are you in?” A 45 minute workout song they did for Nike+ which I’ve listened to a million of times.
