  Abortion was pushed as an issue in the mid 60's by Richard Nixon as a wedge issue to try and break up the Democratic base, to try and peel away some voters, like Roman Catholics.
  
  The Born Again Movement did not focus on that and on Homosexuality until later on. They came into politics over Jimmy Carter's efforts to make Bob Jones University comply with the 1964 Civil Rights act. And at that time even Southern Baptists were not unequivocally opposed to abortion.

  And the Roman Catholic Church only turned completely against abortion and contraception, moving from the Thomas Aquinas view to the Augustine of Hippo view after they mascaraed the Medieval Cathars and wanted to consolidate their power in opposing what undoubtedly remained.

  I'm try to be vegan as much as realistically possible and am pro-life for unborn humans. As Ghandi said "the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is from protection by mam from the cruelty of man."

  No its not a "wedge" issue thats what globalist scum do with their anti police and anti-white garbage. No normal biological creature besides humans deliberately tries to destroy its own offspring.   A society is governed by how they treat the most defenseless among them. No one is more defenseless than a fetus and no group of people other than progressives think murdering them is a right. Rittenhouse performed a post birth abortion and should get a medal. Progressives should all be aborted post birth.

  In a 50/50 country, the political solution is obvious. Abortion legal to 12 weeks, then illegal. Will the extremists on both sides agree to this ? Doubtful.

  I think it is less that the Republican Party is against abortion, than it is people who oppose abortion choose the Republican Party. Just like cowards, communists, racists and racebaiters, criminals, murderers, and other assorted scum choose the Democrat Party. However, the Democrat Party platform is clearly pro-scum, so they've got a lot of synergy.

  Life is a lottery. People are responsible for their kids, not me. If people want an abortion, they should get one and then be spayed, with the male neutered. People too stupid to prevent pregnancy shouldn't breed in the first place. I actually don't really give a fuck if people want to murder their unborn children, my problem is calling it anything other than murder; calling it a "right" to murder and the stupid piece of shit argument that because I oppose murdering them, I am somehow responsible to pay for them.

  Conservative ideology is all about individual liberty, so an anti-abortion position where a woman's right to choose isn't respected never seemed consistent. Somehow the religious right hijacked the conservative party, they need to split off and form their own party.

  individual liberty = life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. Life is the unborn child's individual liberty. When a woman is pregnant, it is no longer her individual body it is shared with the baby. I don't oppose abortion, just fuzzy logic and false extrapolations.
  
  You know what's inconsistent? Liberals telling you that you MUST take an injection which has been proven to be largely ineffective, while saying "keep your laws off my body" and "my body my choice" on other issues. THAT is fucking typical loony left behavior.
