Most signers of letter demanding censorship of Joe Rogan are NOT medical doctors

Dave_Anderson
Despite the screaming mainstream media headlines about the "letter from doctors" calling for Spotify to ban Joe Rogan, a majority of the "270 letter signers" do not have medical degrees and even fewer are practicing physicians.

One of the letter's original co-authors Jessica Rivera does not only not have a medical degree but is actually associated with The Atlantic magazine and the Rockefeller Foundation and is a contributor to CNN.

This is the best the NWO could come up with to bash Rogan? As propaganda goes this is actually pretty pathetic.

This type of thing is likely to backfire. Many people want to hear both sides of an issue and if you try to censor the other side rather than responding to them it just makes it look like you can't defend your position in an open forum.

Rogan uses his platform to spread, ignorance, racism, white privilege, conspiracy theories, transphobia, and COVID-19 misinformation, just to name a few of the things he does to get attention and make money of it.

He like many “celebrities”/Shock-jocks has an opinionated, self-aggrandising presenting style to get people on one or the other side of any issues just to get attention and make money.

it is all about the commercial value of outrage and shock-mockery in a highly competitive media market, and choosing commercial interest over the public good.

I’ll have to check out Joe Rogan.
Don’t lpay attention to anyone telling you who you should or shouldn’t listened to. Decide for yourself. Anyone telling you otherwise has their own agenda.

Private companies have a right to decide who is on their internet platforms and people have a right to come together and sign a petition asking that a certain person be taken off. It becomes a problem, though, if government officials tell these companies they need to do more to stop the spread of "misinformation". In this case, misinformation is any information they don't like. Every dictator in history who engaged in censorship said it was to stop the spread of misinformation.

These government officials have taxation and regulatory policies they can use to punish any company who doesn't go along with what they want so there is an implied threat when they tell private companies they need to do something here. Because of this, it is improper for them to make such statements. Freedom of speech and press were put in the First Amendment to the Constitution because the Founders knew that governments can become tyrannical and it is important that individuals and the media be able to speak out when they do.

You forgot to point out the undeniable fact that;

The so-called founding fathers were British paranoid hypocrites and ungrateful malcontents. What was their cherished Declaration of Independence but empty political posturing?

The separation from Great Britain was done to justify the genocide committed against Native Americans and preserve slavery of African Americans.

@CJKent_band

So you are coming out in favor of government censorship. You are making the assumption here that the views of the government censors will always align with your views and you will never be in a situation where you get carted off to prison because you said something they didn't like. That's a dangerous assumption to be making.

NO, I am not in favor of government censorship, YOU are making assumptions and interpreting what I said to fit your preconceived notions of your reality.

We all know that states/governments (the USA for example) are violent institutions to the extent that they have the power to act in the interests of those with domestic power.

“The strength of representative democracy is its ability to slow down those in power who wish to govern by blank cheque, but also those not in power who wish to yank the state about on the sole basis of their self-interest...”
