  Esper is quite deadpan in style. But I noticed that when talking about the killing of Solimani, he did show emotion in his voice. Must have really wanted that guy dead.
  
  If Trump lets Esper and Milley handle this, no problem.

  11 casualties, not 11 injuries. They were being observed for symptoms of concussion and were unable to perform their duties for a couple days.

  ^^^^ My feeling is that they will not make any such new strikes in the near future. Costs too high, benefits too low.
  
  But we have had bad relations in that part of the world for over 100 years. One way or another there will be new conflict somewhere. And remember that Russia and China have long been stirring the pot. We really do not know what is going on, cruise missiles fired at an Iranian tanker, and at pipes in Saudi oil fields.
  
  None of those countries are well functioning democracies. And the US has long been part of the problem, not part of the solution.
  
  Many people in those countries see that they have no economic future. Well this is how you get young men who turn to religious fundamentalism and are willing to live in caves wearing suicide vests and holding Kalashnikovs.
  
  No different from how it is in the United States, young men who see that they have no future, turning to religious fundamentalism and hatred of minorities and immigrants, who are willing to attend racial supremacy rallies and carry out spree shootings.

  i hope your right, no new attacks, or it would get ugly fast or WWIII , we dont have any friends in middle east, our only hope is that the people overtake the govt and put in leaders that are friendly to usa, ( like the shaw of iran, nassar in egypt )

  iraq use to be a petro dollar rich country, your right that these war torn countries have no economic future, 99% are innocent people that suffer the most, they had loss everything, i dont know how they survive

  Part of the problem is that the US and the UK have been installing friendly governments for decades. Such governments are never popularly supported. They are deemed US and UK friendly because they let our petroleum interests get the money.
  
  And this is why their own people have very little future, they are looked at by these US and UK friendly governments as mere nuisances. The money does not move downward, and so the locals are considered irrelevant and they have no future.
  
  In the early 1950's Iran did elect a democratic leader. He was going to make the country work for its own people, not for foreign interests.
  
  And so the US CIA overthrew him and installed the Shah.

  i believe the iraq people are better off now if we stay, the iraq govt is friendly to usa, but that iran general was trying to take over iraq , and destroy the democracy there by attacking americans and overthrow the govt there. if we pulled out, it would be like vietnam.

  I agree that that general was a problem, and that Iran is causing problems in Iraq. But we do not really know who is encouraging Iran.
  
  Ballistic Missiles are no big deal. But cruise missiles are the work of super power.
  
  We should not be pulling out any troops recklessly. We needed to get out of Vietnam. But Trump pulling those troops out from the Turkey-Syrian border was a disaster. It may have been outright treason.
  
  No, we need to still guide what happens in that region, and try to let popular democracy develop.
  
  But too often, the US is trying to aide our own business interests. These are not the interests of our own people, or the people in those countries.

  @nemesisk7 what are you talking about? They still get regularly upset with US. But their mostly dealing with internal affairs. Like heavy gang wars. And the possibility of a very real environmental shrinkage of their own country.
