Nevada Supreme Court ruling regarding lap dances.

Anybody know anything about the practical effect, if any, of the Nevada Supreme Court ruling mentioned by bob900 in his postings regarding Cheetahs and Olympic Garden? What was the ruling and when does it supposedly go into effect? Las Vegas used to be a wide-open, fun town, but law enforcement seems to be targeting the strip clubs more and more in recent years. Let me know if anybody knows anything.

Some places might just enclose a separate area -- steak-house over here behind closed doors (no smoking), strip club over here on the other side of the door, etc.

I can just imagine the new family slogan signs to visit Vegas. Come to Vegas for some good clean family fun. No smoking and no lap dancing allowed. Enjoy the family fun at our casinos all day without any of those distractions.

I'm suspicious that this would have happened without the support of the casinos and hotels or big business in the area. Perhaps they feel the lap dancing takes away business from their shows. I'm not sure but I am suspicious. Anyway, passing this restrictive law makes me want to stay away from Vegas. I bet many others may feel the same way now whether they say that or not. Boycott Vegas and lap dancing may come back. I don't really know though if there is that much lap dancing in Vegas or if its just a bunch of shows. I am a bit surprised at the new Vegas restrictions. I mean I might expect that in some conservative town but Vegas?

Believe it or not in recent years Vegas has become significantly more conservative with everything that happens in this town OUTSIDE of the casinos. Just recently in addition to the lap dance rules, Las Vegas has officially become a non smoking city in all taverns, stores, and places that prepare food. That means that no restaraunt can have a smoking section unless outside on a patio. Any private tavern that sells food (and there are a lot of them here) must have a total and complete separate smoking section with its own bathrooms and entrances. No more smoking at 7-11 if playing the machines either. Any strip club that serves food will either have to shut down their food service, or force patrons outside to smoke. My guess is that the places that serve food such as Treasures (steakhouse) Spearmint Rhino, Play it Again Sams, and a few others will close their food service down. I think that they are allowed to order in food though, but I am not sure. Oh yes and by the way.......Casinos are exempt! I guess they figure what better way to keep people out of local taverns and in their establishments. Jenna Jameson has recently placed her name on a club inside Mandalay Bay, so I guess burlesque style entertainment has gone mainstream. I wonder if you can smoke in there.
