While rankings like this are interesting these are just averages so not really that compelling in my view. Yes they give a high level indication of education or poverty etc but also a bit misleading. Said differently, while the state of Washington is listed as #1, there is ample debt, poverty and crime there. Likewise, plenty of people in #50, Louisiana, are doing just fine.
Sometimes these rankings a closely tied to the tobacco smoking rates. This time, maybe only partially so.
Some people are hurting in these states, but other people no. It is though a collective responsibility to take care of and protect the most vulnerable.
No it is not a coincidence. The Blue States tend to be higher income, so we pay higher federal taxes. And more of that money actually goes to the Red States.
George Soros would say the people in the tobacco smoking states should be fighting in the streets, doing hand to hand combat with local politicians. What that really means is he wants you to create anarchy since those people have nothing else better to do.
Again we have lies from a progressive. Thbe reason more Federal money goes to Red States is there are more military bases there. If lazy despicable progressives served and welcomed military bases it would be different. Filthy progressivesd assume federal payments mean welfare, but it also includes the military andretirees who having served their country and/or worked their whole life cannot afford to live in Blue States, where rich progressives will cheat them.
No one said the money was for welfare. There are more military bases in Red States because they are away from the coasts and land is cheaper, and the military generally tries to stay low profile.
But it is still true that on the whole federal money comes from blue states and goes to red states.
There is pretty much a cluster in the South East, but also including KY and WV, and also OH, which have the high smoking rates. So on many of these lists, that will put them very low.
I see a massive difference in NC roads versus South Carolina roads. I'm constantly dodging pot holes and patched up pot holes in South Carolina. In NC, it's only a few roads I have to drive an obstacle course. I wouldn't rate NC so high though. I still see plenty of pot holes in NC they haven't fixed in over a year. It would be nice if both states paid attention to major secondary country road connections that need work if you aren't traveling on the interstate from place to place.

But that is interesting, your point about road pot holes.
I assume these aren't freeways, like with no traffic lights or level crossings.
Rural highways, level crossings and traffic lights? Road side businesses? What is the speed limit?
Care to identify such a road and we can look at it via google satellite view?
Road in front of any strip clubs?
