This is exactly why cats should all be declawed. It's more convenient for the owners. Nevermind the increased anxiety for the cat and all, you can fuck with them and when they smack you back, not get a scratch.
Anyone who feels that their anxiety is being lowered because they are carrying a gun is an idiot.

How about as a compromise we get some guys we'll call cops and when some motherfucker with a gun misuses one, we'll go after him instead of preventing a mom from protecting herself and her children when she lives in a rough neighborhood?

When they survey people as to their fear of crime levels, the levels are always much much higher in White suburban very low crime areas than they are in mixed race higher crime level neighborhoods.

I can attest to this. When I took the bus through iffy neighborhoods and tried to do well by everyone, I noticed that for the most part, people actually want to be good to each other and that knowledge was more comforting than packing. It wasn't in Detroit, though.
The higher crime level neighborhoods actually do have higher crime, though, so it's only fair for those who heard word on the street that shit was about to go down to give them a fighting change.

We don't have many cold blooded killings, as such would probably be property crime related. But if one is to occur, then having the gun does not help.
The fear does not correlate to the crime level, the fear level is greatest when the crime level is the lowest, so it is being driven by something other than perception of the crime rate.

NRA and gun lobby stats not credible, but by a large margin, when people start keeping guns they get used of family members way more than in any proper way. More likely to escalate problems than solve anything too.
