Interesting Observation $20 bill vs $50 bill

Livin my inner redneck
I've discovered something totally by accident. Recently I couldn't make it by the bank or credit union before my last two OTC meetings and had to pay my OTC friend in $20s instead of the usual $50s. The $20s elicited a stronger reaction/thank you than the $50s ever have. Made me wonder if a wad of $20s seems like it is more..or the big bills are viewed with suspicion when given or spent by the girl? Don't know but it's happened twice in a row. Think I'll just stick with the $20s for a bit.

Besides that it looks like more, I'd think most-people prefer the smaller denomination since it's more convenient.

So I can tell you many poker players and gamblers dont like 50's for whatever reason. I dont really get it but 20's are common and accepted without question. But she is a strippler and thus has weird ideas and random likes and dislikes. Dont hurt your brain too much...

Wanna confuse a stripper?

I pay one $300 for ITC and I’ve done it several time usually handing her 3 $100 bills.

Last time I gave her 5 $20s 1 $100 bill and 2 $50 bills. She accused me of shorting her so I counted it out for her and put $100 in each separate stack.

I haven’t done ITC with that dumb ass since.

I've been paying my SBs and OTC girls through apps: Cash, Venmo, or PayPal. Some of my revenue stream comes in on those same apps, so my "play money" expenditures never pass through places others might see. And, I don't have to worry about carrying extra cash or finding envelopes. who came up with the idea that putting the cash in an envelope somehow makes it more discreet or classy?

In typical girl logic, several girls have said they feel less like a hooker doing it this way - whatever helps you sleep at night.

I never get denominations bigger than $20. It works out best for me when getting dances at my favorite club and OTC any purchases that I make in excess of $20, I use my credit card to receive points. On top of that there are a few businesses that won't accept any thing larger than a $20.

I rarely encounter $50 bills but will spend them with no problem. But I ran into a fellow I know locally who considers them bad luck. He evidently goes out of his way to avoid even touching a $50 bill. I'd never known anyone had those type of feelings about cash.

Never have run into a girl who has any negative feelings about cash, especially in a strip club. But $50 bills are a bit odd in some ways. If I ever have 50s I prefer to have an even number of them.

I usually carry all denominations of cash when I go clubbing. I have never noticed any difference according to what denomination I use, unless it is a stage tip. If you slip a ten or 20 in the garter as a stage tip in the dives I go to you will receive her full attention when she comes off stage.

$50 bills can be difficult to spend, especially in convenience stores where strippers buy their cigarettes and snacks. I used to pay strippers with 50's, but now I give them 20's, which they like more.

I usually carry a bunch of twenties, tens, and fivess, plus a some singles but I keep my money roll in hundreds in a separate place it’s too easy to mix up bills of large denominations so I’ll always break a few hundreds if I’m going to the club.

My problem was I rarely carried cash at all. In my work, if I was going to be robbed, they weren't getting any of MY money. I'd help them load up the customers money.

Any time I was going to a club, I had to hit the ATM first, so I always had $20 notes.

I make a mental note which local ATMs can dispense in $10 increments and try to use them to collect a mix of tens. I try to beak a few twenties at gas stations and ask for change in fives.

Lurker,

"Local ATMs" can be pretty costly if one does not pay attention.

I forgot to mention. In my normal travels, anytime I had singles, they would go into my glove box stash. They were exclusively for clubbing. Worked well, had plenty of singles and twenties. Never saw a need for other denominations.

I can't remember the last time I saw an ATM that does $10 bills.

I'll go in the bank every couple months or so and withdraw $500 as $100 in ones and $400 in tens. I can get 20s and 50s from my banks' ATM machines any time I want.

I think it’s probably more difficult for strippers to spend $50’s - as certain places don’t like anything larger than $20’s.

However - considering the odd stripper logic - if she got more bills - she must have gotten more money! She might be one of those folks who thinks a pound of lead weighs more than a pound of feathers...

"... I can't remember the last time I saw an ATM that does $10 bills ..."

Me either - I wish ATMs would dispense $5s and $10s - I go to $5/dance small black-clubs and need the $5 and $10 denominations - thus I either hoard w/e $5s and $10s I get as change or use a bank-teller once in a while and get about $100 in $5s and $10s (usually $60 in $10s and $40 in $5s) which lasts me for a 2 or 3 visits since I pay for dances in $20s when I can but sometimes I get 4 $5 floor-dances and wanna tip her a $10, etc.

Whenever I ATM, I select a withdrawal amount to get some fives. For example, I request $195 instead of $200. Then, I am assured of getting 9-20's and 3-5's. My ATMs never dispense 10's.

Whaaaaat? Even in the 1980s I cannot remember encountering an ATM that could split to fives.

So how did you determine that, @Bubba? Did she get wet instantly when you presented 20s?

joc,

I was om the ATM business for years, and ONCE saw an ATM that had singles in it. This was 30+ years ago. I was shocked until I thought about it. It was small town in GA. Obviously not a lot of wealth in that town. Then I thought Maybe the person has $10 in the bank and wants to stop at the corner gas station and get a pack of smokes, so needs a few bucks. In Key West, there were ATMs that had ONLY $100 notes.

I vaguely remember ATMs back about 25/30 years ago with $10’s. I’ve never seen one with $5’s or $1’s. I’m sure they could load any denominations in there. Where I am it seems that $20’s are the main denomination for ATMs.

Could you see a sad sack withdraw $7 in $1’s - then having to pay $3 as the ATM fee! That would suck!

Cash,

I believe most bank don't charge their customers unless they use a ATM not in their network. Then you get hit twice, the ATM you use AND the fee your bank charges.

Trust me, ATMs aren't inexpensive to purchase, maintain, and service financially. Not to mention all the assholes that try to get in them or scam them in any way you might image.

@Cash the first ATMs I ever used, in 82-86 while I was in college (my home town probably didn't even have ATMs yet; they barely had indoor plumbing), had $5s and $20s. That bank had been bought out by another in the 90s, but they were still using the same ATMs in the late 90s when I finally moved away from that city.

Doesn't matter the note size in the US. Software is all that matters. Of course if a cash provider puts the wrong denomination in the ATM, the ATM doesn't "care". It dispenses only by note count and the denomination that is SUPPOSE to be there.

I bet if they put tens in place of twenties, the bank will now a lot sooner than if they put twenties in place of tens. :)

Sorry, posted this then didn't get back on. @ Random...one can only hope :). Nope it was the number of exclamation points and smiley faces blowing kisses in her "thank you" text. Interesting to see the consistency others have had. Think I'll stick with $20s. @Joc, if we ever get to meet in person I would appreciate you showing me how some of those apps work and if there is one you prefer.

A lot of gamblers superstitiously believe $50's are bad luck.

Plenty of places won't take fifties or hundreds so maybe she was just happy you saved her a trip to get change.
