College Football Playoff Predictions???
shailynn
They never tell you what you need to know.
Really can’t even predict it yet, so many 1 loss teams.
I guess a better question would be which teams are likely to have another loss before their conference championship games?
Got something to say?

Clemson/Ohio State
Georgia will get tossed with their one loss to Bama, not fair but likely.
1. Bama
2. Big Ten Champ
Spots 3 & 4 will be 2 of these three:
- Big 12 Champ (if their first ever playoff game is legitimate and not a farce)
- Notre Dame
- ACC Champ
* likely whoever out of these 3 possibilities has only 1 loss at the end of the season
2. ND after they run the table
3. Ohio State after they run the table including WI
4. Clemson if they beat NC State and run the table
or
4. GA if NC State beats Clemson
We will know a lot more in 30 hours: OSU @ IA, Clem @ NCST, OK @ OKST
Prediction: the only teams (that matter) with 1 loss of fewer in two weeks will be: ALA, GA, WI, OSU, ND, VT.
Bama
ND
Clemson and
Oklahoma
But they all still have hurdles to get over.
1. Winner Alabama v Georgia
2. Notre Dame
3. Loser Alabama v Georgia
4. Winner Clemson v Miami
No way, Big Ten has the largest viewing audience so they will definitely try to have one of those teams in the final four.
I’m thinking ND has a good shot at one of the 3 spots.
My alma mater won’t be in there - since they don’t have a team - so I have to live vicariously.
2-loss MSU, OSU and PSU cancel each other out.
PAC 12 is out - even 1-loss WASH below top 4 no matter what.
Big 12 could sneak in with 1-loss OK or TCU, but would need help with upset in top 4.
So ND is out, in your opinion?
I can agree with that, but I was wondering about joc's thoughts.
If they're the only one left, then yeah, they should just pick a conference and play by the same system everyone else does. Quit expecting special treatment just cause you're the only one that wants to be different.
If there's only going to be 4 teams, then it should be the 4 best conference champions.
I believe nd has a loose tie-in with the ACC, but don't know for sure, but they are not IN the conference. Like many conferences, nd isn't exactly close to the Atlantic coast. :)
I don't think we'll see as many as 6 really good teams, and the resulting parity and more frequent conf champs with 2 or 3 loss records, in the SEC again until Saban retires, since the best coaches are not going to want to come in and compete against him. Unless they are Alabama assistants, like at UGA, who will take an SEC job cause they know they're not getting Saban's any time soon. We will all know Saban is getting close to retiring when Bama assistants start turning down HC jobs in other places.
BTW, I believe the CFP mandate is to select the 4 best teams in the nation without regard to conference affiliation. For example, if the best PAC 12 team is perceived to be worse than the 2nd best ACC or SEC team -- tough shit -- you're out.
ND is in the conversation because they beat excellent Big 10 (MSU), ACC (NCST) and PAC 12 (USC) teams by considerable margins. Georgia has defeated every team they played by 14+ points (except ND, a 1-point win).
IF ND beats Miami this Saturday, it is all over. They are deservedly the 2-seed.
The only other solution would be a three-week tournament with 8 teams -- the Power five champs get automatic births and the committee chooses 3 at-large teams and controls the rankings 1-8. First round games would be 4 of the second-tier bowls around December 24 or so, thus eliminating 8 crappy 6-6 teams from bowl play. C'mon, does the 4th place MAC team really deserve a bowl??
Being undefeated in the SEC right now isn't saying as much as it used to.
Also, running up the score on weak opponents shouldn't be helping anyone.
You need 7 games to play a 8 team tournament. The top 7 "bowls" rotate on who gets the quarters, semis, and final. Play the quarters on 2nd to last Sat in Dec, the Semis on last Sat in Dec, and for the love of Jesus h fucking Christ, put the final on either the first or 2nd sat in January. College football is a SATURDAY sport, why the hell is the championship on a Monday night?
Keep maybe 5 or 6 other bowls. The rest need to be shuttered. Lots of things would change in CFB if it took 8 wins, or even 9 wins, to get in a bowl.
My point exactly. If you don't finish the regular season as CHAMPION of something, why should you get a chance at being the national champion.
No big deal. They'll always be hated till enough time passes and no one remembers when they were really on the top of college ball for so long.
Looked it up and here it is, "The conference announced an extension of its football agreement with the Fighting Irish on Thursday. Notre Dame, a member of the ACC in all sports but football, will play five ACC teams every year from 2026 through ’37."
Guess they are scared.
Just rooting for them, and knowing it is Just a dream.
This year may be different, but being in defeated in any major conference is a feat

After Saturday, realistically, we will be down to 4 teams vying for 2 spots.
