Fort Myers police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man outside of a Fowler Street strip club Saturday morning, the city's first homicide of 2017.
The shooting, in the parking lot of Scarlett's Cabaret, an adult entertainment business on Fowler Street, brought a heavy police presence to the club. The man who was shot was taken to Lee Memorial hospital, where he later died, police said.
The shooting occurred around 2 a.m., the usual closing time for the club.
Officers located the victim, Rogerio Melo Anjos, 34, suffering from a gunshot wound. Lee County EMS transported Anjos to Lee Memorial.
Anjos died a short time later as a result of his injuries.
Up until Saturday's incident, it had been a relatively quiet year for crime in the city.
By this time last year, five homicides, one of which was declared justifiable, had occurred. The city's last homicide was Christmas Day when 21-year-old Juan Gabriel Maldonado-Sepulveda was found dead.
Fort Myers community implores city, police officials for change
Investigators determined that Anjos and a friend were leaving Scarlett's when they engaged in a verbal argument with three males.
The altercation quickly escalated and Anjos was shot by one of the unknown subjects.
All three are described as black males in their 20s. They were last seen leaving in a dark-colored hatchback with a yellow/blue New York State license plate.

Recently an army vet was gunned down by two black dudes outside a South FL casino - they all left the casino and according to the report the 2-black guys blocked the army vet's car twice in the parking-lot - the vet got out of his car to where one of the black guys shot off 13 rounds out the passenger window (the vet was unarmed and killed).
With Florida's lenient stand your ground laws; the 2 black-guys were not charged b/c the army vet was the one that approached their car - looks like to me these two black guys knew how to work the system b/c you don't shoot someone 13 times if he's approaching your car on foot b/c you blocked him in twice (seemed like they were instigating the situation) - the vet was on foot and the 2 black-guys were in their car; they could have just drove off; seems to me they took advantage of the situation to blow the army vet away - below is a news clip vid:

As far as the Miami scene, it sounds like common sense will prevail and those two bastards won't get away with trying to turn stand your ground into a license to kill. I also noticed that the idiot reporter and his dumbass editor don't know the difference between a Marine and a soldier.
I had read once there was a 3-foot no touch rule in Lee County that went unenforced. However, if you ever were prosecuted and convicted,it was a crime of sexual battery that would include registration as a sex offender. That's as bad as Orlando, maybe worse.
Apparently, they victim was well known, well-liked, and very active in his church.
