  Since John Smith's thing is to pay above-market rate for above-market talent, I wouldn't count that as overpaying.
  
  Being super picky myself, it makes a lot more sense to me to just leave after a beer on an off night and use that toward a bigger tip for a dancer I would actually want to interact with again.
  
  Paying union scale for dances with whichever dancer is the least unattractive on an off night is what I would call overpaying.
