I have been to Iquitos, but I did not even think about having sex with children.

Why this isn't a death penalty case proves that progressives are awful.
I believe they use say "children" to mean anyone under 18. The article references girls 16 years old mostly. I believe the age of consent in Peru is 14. I think that even if you're doing something perfectly legal in the foreign country, the U.S. can arrest you here in the states. That doesn't seem right to me.

There may be a US law that prohibits travel for that reason. But then, that would mean I could be arrested for smoking weed in Amsterdam. Makes no sense, there must be more to it than that.
