Planning a trip to Vegas during a July weekend. Do any of you guys know of a site that is known for deals that beat the airline or hotel site? Preferrably a site that doesnt have a strict/costly cancellation policy.
you're going at a good time, no professional sports to bet on and it's hot as fuck, so you can usually find some good deals in July. Especially the week after the 4th.
I don't like 3rd party sites. Just check the budget airlines, Southwest, Jet Blue, Frontier, Spirit etc.
If you're worried about cancellation then book direct with the hotels, they're cancellation policies are generous. If you find a great deal call them and talk with them, they will work with you, trust me.
I love Vegas but not the heat that they got I try to keep my trips from Fall to Spring.
Honestly, the Casino hotels themselves are the best places to get deals on those hotels. Smartervegas.com is worth a peak to see what promos are going on at each one, but you're still booking through the hotels.
I on the other hand have a Caesars TR card and MGM MLife card and get those discounts on rooms, which are the best especially the higher your play is rated of course. Even if you're not a big player, do yourself a favor and sign up for those while you're there so you can take advantage of those deals for your return trip.
After just coming back from a trip out, I started to wonder about costs for the off strip hotels, your Marriott Courtyards and such. One of the reasons being the MGM resorts has started instituting a Parking Fee of $10 a day at all of their properties. Add their $25 (or more) a day resort fee and if your driving, a reasonable $70 or $80 a night room has gone up to over $100. I'm a MLife member and if you do reach the higher levels, some of these fees may be waved. I always do rent a car and drive myself to clubs. Some of the time it gets the cover waved for me or I get a discounted entry. Rental cars are in the $30+ range depending on what you want.
Jack - one piece of advice I give to Vegas amateurs is to never stay off the strip (unless they are knowingly going for the downtown or Red Rock experience).
As it sounds you like you're very familiar with Vegas yourself, you know the convenience factor, transportation costs, as well as time committment to keep going back and forth from an off strip hotel to the strip outweighs any potential cost savings. I nitpick a bit too much and know its a bit extreme, but i almost feel that staying farther north or south on the strip like Mandalay Bay/Luxor and arguably Wynn/Encore even pushes you too far out from the central strip. I keep to booking hotels only between Venetian/Palazzo and Cosmo these days.
Looks like I'm going to be changing dates for the following weekend.
I'm familiar with staying in Vegas since my ex mother in law lived there for a while and we'd go down 2 - 3 times a year. Being a family then, Excalibur or Circus Circus was always nice and cheaper than the rest. Now I'm just wondering overall since its kind of spur of the moment plus I'll probably be footing the entire flight/lodging/rental car costs for me and a lady friend. I don't think it would set the mood right staying at Excalibur or Circus Circus. So I've been looking at MGM.
@Jack
I think MGMs parking fee is ridiculous. I remember reading something before they started it that it was to improve our parking experience. Not sure how paying to park is supposed to improve my Vegas experience.
I just tried MGM a few weeks ago since they sent me a deal. It was definitely a bit cheaper than Vdara, Aria, Trump, Wynn, which are my usual go-to's, but the quality is noticeably different as well. I probably won't go back... but it would save you the cost of a 3 song set or 15 minutes upstairs if you do decide on MGM over those others. Plus it is a quick walk to Excalibur where I like to gamble since they have $5 minimum tables instead of $10.
I'll probably fly in next weekend... and two undetermined weekends in July. It's called addiction. It's funny though, I've almost quit gambling entirely (after 12 years of going maybe 2-3 times a year) and funneled that money over to clubbing now that I've recently found that.
