I don't know know what hurt him more -- the fact that he was white or that most of Stanford's games were on too late for the east coast media to watch.
Really, what does it mean? It's suppose to be? From the Heisman website, "The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity."
So, since is was first awarded in 1935 (79 times), there has been only ONE defensive player and FIVE receivers that meets that standard? 32 quarterback? 41 running backs?
Seems to be based on rather questionable opinions by the electors. Sort of diminishes the award in my opinion.
