Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads to play guitar......what a crap deal. He was never well known during his career, never made money, got poisoned and died at the age of 27.

Yes, at highway 61 and 49, or so they say. The town of Clarksdale has expanded and so the highways have been rerouted, but they have a designated spot to honor him.

But there is another documentary by John Hammond Jr. It explains that probably what happened was Johnson's wife died in child birth and he went off to extremes. He spent all of his money on drink and women. Many of his songs were songs of seduction. He didn't worry about their marital status. Hammond interviews an earlier researcher who claims to have received a confession from the husband of one of the women, to poisoning Johnson.

Of course this only added to his legend.
