  Can you email the photo to yourself, save the picture to your computer, and then upload it? You can always delete it afterward.

  Might be too high res. I had the same problem. It worked when I converted from jpg to png and reduced res. the error message is of no help.

  Probably has to do with the size of the picture.
  
  If you get an answer from your PM to founder, ask him what the max size of the pictures that can be uploaded to the site is.
