Respect

You drive up to the door and have to tip some rude bozo $5 to drive your car 10 feet to the parking lot. You enter, pay $15 entrance fee, go through the metal detector and get frisked by another rude bozo. You go take a leak and have to tip some freak $1 for a towel. You sit down, order a beer and it costs $8 plus $2 tip. Then some girl walks over and wonders why you're in a bad mood and don't show her any respect. Ladies, if you want customers to show you respect, try working in a place that doesn't constantly rip off the customers. Maybe you'll discover that we aren't such bad guys after all.

It's been years since I've been to any Detroit-area clubs but as I recall you have many more fancy GC's than most areas. I see 2 logical responses to overpriced GC's - first, the local neighborhood taverns that have strippers often do quite well while the GC's sit empty except for Fri and Sat night. Second, the escort business is growing rapidly, as a lot of guys conclude that if they're goin to have to spend $200+ anyway they might as well get a sure thing. I think the market for strip clubs declines rapidly as prices increase. There's an oversupply of GC's and the girls who work in them are getting squeezed (no pun intended.)

In Detroit the attitude of most clubs is you should stay home if you can't afford the fees. I have railed, in vain, against these rip-offs, but they are the industry standard in Detroit. Dancers are charged for parking and meals in most Detroit clubs, in addition to tip out. And the owners wonder why the maket is falling.

Thanks, Shadowcat. Actually I was being a little facetious, I don't usually go to the kind of places that I described. But I know there are places like that out there* and I know a lot of girls seem to prefer working in such places. Which is why I think there are so many unhappy strippers, because places like that are going to attract the kind of customer that they all claim to hate and places like that take a big cut of the dancer's income. So why do they work there? I don't buy the bit about them not having choices, in most areas there are lots of choices within an hour's drive. And I know girls who travel much farther than that to dance.

*Actually to be fair I have been hanging out lately at such a place but I only go during the day when there are no parking lot attendants, washroom attendants or entrance fees. I still don't much like the place but I really like the girl I see there, so what's a guy to do?

    Hi Fondl,

I would think the customer has more choice (in choosing a SC) than the typical dancer has in choosing her place of employment. It sounds like a kick the dog scenario: Shortened version employee gets treated poorly by the boss so employee kicks the dog. Of course, a dancer has more choice than the poor dog. Still many of the SC, especially GCs, are managed about the same . . .

Also, there is a huge difference between not being able to afford a service and poor service. To some guys $50 to have their car parked wouldn't mean anything as long as the service is good.
