"Conservative Politician Writes Resignation In Klingon
AUTHOR: RANDA MORRIS JANUARY 6, 2014
It's not all that uncommon for a politician to resign before their term is complete. Even when that representative has only been in office for a couple of months, it's still not that unheard of. But a politician who submits a formal letter of resignation that's written in Klingon? Well, that's not something you hear about every day.
David Waddell, a North Carolina politician recently elected as Indian Trail Councilman, turned in his resignation letter during the first week of January, 2014. The letter, which is all of four sentences long, is written in the Klingon language. Thankfully, it also contains an English translation, apparently written specifically for people who live on the planet earth.
Here is the letter in Klingon, with the English translation from The Charlotte Observer:

When asked about the resignation letter, Waddell told the Charlotte Observer “Folks don't know what to think of me half the time.â€
I am pretty sure that folks do know what to think. For example, Mayor Michael Alverez told the Charlotte Observer that Waddell's letter and the national attention it has drawn is “an embarrassment for Indian Trail, and it's an embarrassment for North Carolina.†That seems pretty clear to me.
Waddell said that a part of his reason for resigning from his position as councilman is that he intends to run for Kay Hagan's U.S. Senate seat. Yep. Waddell is preparing a write-in campaign for the 2014 election.
It must be because what the senate really needs most is one more nut case who can't seem to find the line that, for most of us, separates fantasy from reality. The sad thing is that a senator who could draft policy based on his vast knowledge of a sci-fi television series would fit in all too well with the rest of the fiction obsessed conservatives in Washington."

But at least he isn't running for public office (yet).
