A 40-mile chase down Interstate 95 led to the arrest of a 28-year-old Royal Palm Beach man who deputies say shot at a car outside a West Palm Beach strip club.

But it wasn't police who chased after Etanis Torres and two others to a Walmart in Broward County in the early hours of May 18, a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office arrest report stated. Instead, it was the two people Torres allegedly fired his gun at.

At about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, the couple, whose names were withheld, was driving away from the Cheetah Gentlemen's Club in the 3300 block of Shawneee Avenue when they almost collided with a white 2010 BMW 750Li.

The driver, identified as Wilson Angel, rolled down his window and started arguing with the couple.

During the dispute, Torres, who sat in the seat behind Angel, rolled down his window, pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and fired two shots at the couple's black Nissan Altima.

The couple fled while the BMW drove onto the Okeechobee Boulevard. Soon after, the report stated, the couple followed the BMW onto the highway while they called the sheriff's office for help.

On the highway, Wilson saw the Altima was following him and sped up. Torres then stood up through the car's sunroof and fired four times at the Altima. None of the bullets struck the couple, the report stated.

The high-speed chase continued into Broward County when the BMW got off the highway at West Copans Road near Coconut Creek.

The couple followed the BMW to a Walmart parking lot in the 6000 block of Coral Ridge Drive in Coral Springs, where Wilson parked on a sidewalk and fled into the store with a woman.

The report stated Torres got out and threw the gun into the car before he followed Angel and the woman.

Local police later arrived at the store and arrested Angel, Torres and the woman.

On Saturday, sheriff's office deputies arrested Torres on a warrant, the report stated, charging him with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and firing a missile into a vehicle.

Torres was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail just before noon Saturday. He was released Sunday night after he posted $150,000 bond.
