All is right with the universe. The Steelers are Superbowl champs again. It removes the "yeah but" from Cowher's resume (14 years as head coach, 11 winning seasons, 10 playoff appearances, 8 division titles, 6 appearances in the AFC championship game, 2 AFC titles, YEAH BUT...). OK, not the prettiest game. Given the choice of winning pretty or winning ugly, I'll take the winning part. Roethlisberger was over the line, the offensive pass interference in the end zone would have been just as controversial if it hadn't been called, the holding call was a judgement call, and the low block was BS. Thus endeth the "we wuz robbed" arguments and my gloating or otherwise discussing the Superbowl on a non-sports board.

As for the bad calls, nobody talks about the non-calls and calls that went against the Steelers. There was one Seahawks reception and fumble that was called incomplete, and there was a non-call of a block in the back on the big interception return that would have put the Seahawks well out of scoring range had the steelerd D held on for a few plays. Overall I think they evened out.

I also think that game will make Big Ben a better player. He had a bad case of jitters and they still won. That has got to boost his confidence in the future.

They won the way the've been winning for years - awesome defense and a solid running game that keeps the other teams' offense sitting down, plus an occasional pass completion when they really need it and a trick play here and there. And yes they got breaks from some calls that could have gone either way but I didn't think any of them were bad calls. The thing that makes it so hard to win on the road is that the close calls almost always go the home team's way, and the Steelers were clearly playing a home game. Their fans had as much to do with the outcome as did the players. That's often true in the NFL.
