I've seen many misuse of this term lately, especially when referring to women. For the longest time, petite has been a term used to refer to short women, regardless of how thin or fat she is. However, in here, I've seen it used to refer to a dancer that's fit. So, how would a taller woman who's in shape be called? Tall with a petite body?
@ JayJay: I wouldn't mix the terms "petite" and "tall" when describing a woman's stature. I feel they're contradictory. My answer to your question would be "tall and slim" or "tall with a proportional figure." I really can't think of an known term for the figure type you're describing.
@ Jackslash and Steve229: Collectively, you have established well-refined definitions of "petite."
In any event, I wouldn't consider a busty woman (tall or short) as petite. Maybe that figure type should be known as "wonderful and highly desirable!"
steve299 is having a streak of meaningful posts. Very proud of ya, junior. Now go find them strip club where the three titty dancer works at and make pops a happy old man.
JJ- In my reviews, I often note the size/build ranges of dancer shift, using "petite" to denote dancers of short to average height who happen to be thin. My next level of build is medium, culminating in "thick". As one could be short and thick or tall and thick (ditto on medium), I don't split hairs too much on tall dancers who are thin. When describing such a standout, I've used the term "tall/lanky". I'm aware that the term "athletic" is utilized when denoting builds. I personally don't use that term much as there are few hardcore athletes in the dancer ranks in most clubs. Plus, there could be a wide range of builds even there from a marathon runner to a bodybuilder type. // End of vocabulary lesson..........
I would use petite and spinner innerchangeably. While most petite girls ARE short, I don't that is a requirement. I have seen tall, thin girls that I would call petite. One thing that I think goes with petite dancers are non enhanced breasts. Any dancer with bolt-ons would not be petite or a spinner in my book.
Lopaw, I was with you until the comma. I just haven't seen a tall, small-boned girl, unless the right word is "skinny". I agree with most posters here, that petite is short with small features. A squatty or thick girl who happens to be short is not petite in my book. A girl built like a fire hydrant is not petite. I'd like to see that competition between petite girls and spinners, might be a lot of overlap.
gmd, I think you included the backpage stuff for easy reference to this topic. Seems like most of the posts over time have warned against the use of that resource. I imagine your contact with them came first as dancers and not as escorts? Haven't heard much good about that site, but maybe I have been misreading.

Yes, I included it just for reference. However, in conjunction with review sites, backpage and Craigslist are both useable, if less than completely reliable, resources.
The classic meaning of "petite" is a shorter lady who is proportioned such that a picture of her with no obvious size comparison would make her appear normal sized. She is both shorter and thinner in the same proportions than an average adult female. There is no similarly accepted word for the taller and thin figure. I've always referred to that type as "willowy".

The essential characteristic of a petite woman is that her body is proportional, so she's like a miniature version of a average sized woman.
If you look at a picture of a petite woman without a point of reference, you shouldn't be able to tell she's short.
Petite = shawty >= spinner
For instance, and entirely in my opinion, this girl is petite:

While this girl, who is ostensibly the same height, and arguably just as attractive in her own way, is not, by a slight margin:

I've met both of them (they've both danced at some point in Louisville), and am speaking from first hand perception.
And if anyone is interested, the title of her ad is entirely correct. The pics absolutely do *not* do her justice...

Tall & tight might be a clearer description.
S/B small
Trust this bunch to take a simple definition and twist it beyond recognition...sheesh!

That said, personally I can handle any petite as a spinner...

Tall women need not try with me. I don't find tall women attractive.
On their backs, they're all the same height. :)
