COLUMBUS, Ohio - A stolen police vehicle was recovered on Monday after a prostitution bust gone wrong.
Undercover officers were targeting prostitutes in the area near Sullivant and Martin avenues on the west side when an officer lured Morgan Nelson into his car, 10TV's Tino Ramos reported.
After driving to a parking lot, the undercover officer revealed his identity and attempted to arrest Nelson, who escaped the vehicle.
Once outside the vehicle, police said Nelson jumped into the driver's seat of the car and took off, Ramos reported.
Police tracked the car by the officer's cell phone, which was left in the vehicle. Investigators said that the undercover officer's badge and police radios were also inside the car.
While the phone was dumped near Harrisburg Pike and Brown Road, the car was spotted at a rest stop in Delaware County, with Nelson sleeping inside, Ramos reported.
Nelson faces several charges, including robbery.
