DAYTONA BEACH -- A man wanted in a bank robbery was arrested at a Daytona Beach strip club Monday after workers recognized him from media coverage, police said in a report from FLORIDA TODAY news partner WKMG Local 6.
Edward Merrill Conrad Jr., 31, of Mims, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Monday at Lollipops Gentlemens Club in Daytona Beach.
According to New Smyrna Beach police, strip-club employees called Daytona Beach police about the man, who refused to identify himself to officers. He did, however, admit to robbing the TD Bank at 1811 State Road 44 in New Smyrna Beach on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The man, later identified as Conrad, was also wearing the same clothing used during the robbery, police said. An undisclosed amount of money was also recovered, according to police.
The man was arrested by Daytona Beach police on a charge of providing a false name to law enforcement, and he was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail as John Doe.
New Smyrna Beach police investigators obtained an arrest warrant for the bank robbery and arrested Conrad at the jail.
Anyone with more information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS.
