DONNA — Employees arriving for work at the Hollywood Nights Gentlemen's Club were surprised to find their workplace surrounded by authorities.

About 6:30 p.m., Hidalgo County sheriff's deputies assisted the FBI in serving a search warrant at the gentlemen's club on the corner of Farm-to-Market Road 493 and Expressway 83.

Investigators at the scene told the club employees that they were serving the warrants in relation to gambling equipment and were seizing that equipment. The club owner and a female employee were taken to the Sheriff's Office to speak with investigators.

Authorities were seen walking out of the club with computer equipment.

Outside the club, Mark Salinas — the son of the club's owner — was trying to get answers.

“I don't know why they are here,” Salinas said. “Everything here is legal. All the permits are in place.

“We run a clean club.”

When Salinas was told about the search warrant in relation to gambling equipment, he said the machines were run at a separate area away from the regular club operations, were independent and belonged to another individual who was not at the scene.

After authorities finished the search, the gentlemen's club was free to resume its regular business.

Attempts to reach the alleged owner of the machines proved unsuccessful.

I strongly feel that at some point in the future, strip clubs and gambling dens will go together like peanut butter and jelly. Don't hold your breath, it's like 25-30 years from now.
