York, PA - A York man was arrested late Thursday night for attempting to rob an undercover police officer posing as a prostitute, York City Police reported.

Kenneth W. Johnson, 42, of the 100 block of West King Street, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said he approached the female officer at 10:22 p.m. on East Princess Street near Howard Avenue and tried to rob her.

According to a police affidavit, Johnson asked the undercover officer how much money she made that night and then grabbed her and threatened to shoot her if she didn't hand over her money. The officer identified herself as police and defended herself. Police said the officer was injured in the attack.

Johnson ran, police said, and was apprehended after a struggle, during which he dropped a glass marijuana pipe.

He was arraigned at Central Booking Friday morning and placed in York County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
