GRAND RAPIDS -- Granted, city officials are looking for new ways to raise revenue and engage citizens these days.
But bachelor parties and strippers are not among the new ventures -- despite what Google Maps might indicate.
Until Friday, Google Map users who zoomed in on City Hall's address at 300 Monroe Ave. NW were linked to a website for Heavenly Bodies Entertainment, a local company specializing in bachelor parties and strippers.
The website featured racy photos of the company's dancers, a rate schedule and assurances that the dancer you choose from the photo gallery will be the one assigned to your event.
Paul Klimas, the city's information technology director, said Tuesday he was unaware of the link's origins and said he would complain to Google.
A woman who answered the phone listed for Heavenly Bodies said she did not know how her 10-year-old business became associated with City Hall.
"There's not supposed to be any address," said Amy, who declined to give her last name.
A Google spokeswoman said Friday the link has been disabled.
"Google Maps is a very popular source for local data. But we recognize that with millions of listings, there will be an occasional error," she said.
