Strippers, casinos... I think I've found something worse...

This has yet to prove a blessing, as I have yet to win an auction. I bought the minimum number of bids to try it out, $24 for 40 bids. So the curse is I'm out 30 bids thus far. AND A WHOLE SH*TLOAD OF TIME!!!
The timewaster? www.swoopo.com. And to think a blog I read mentioned it as a money-saving website.

I have never been to auction style strip club before..but I could see it possible for strip clubs to hold auctions for lap dances from a feature dancer.
If they used a similar scam auction system as swoopo they would made a tidy profit.

Sam, I think that would be waaaay too complicated for strip clubs.

Anyways, here's the data from yesterday's Swoopo session:

    Swoopo

    500 bids won for $2.03 on 6/20/10
    50 bids won for $1.07 on 6/20/10
    300 bids won for $1.07 on 6/20/10
8 ounce fine silver bar for $3.12 on 6/20/10
Nikon D90 12.3 MP DSLR Camera with 18-105mm Kit for $75.57 on 6/20/10
    50 bids won for $.45 on 6/20/10
Apple iPhone 3GS 32 GB (Black) for $17.49 on 6/20/10
    750 bids won for $9.22 on 6/20/10
    50 bids won for $.42 on 6/20/10
1-ounce gold bar won for $6.95 on 6/20/10
    300 bids won for $2.28 on 6/20/10
LG 50PJ350 50-inch Plasma HDTV won for $6.85 on 6/20/10
Canon EOS Rebel T2i Camera +EF-$ 18-55mm Lens won for $4.40 on 6/20/10
    Apple iPad 64GB WiFi $81.46
    Samsung UN46C6500 46-Inch LED HDTV $98.34
    1 Ounce Gold Bar (31.10g) $55.81
    Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop $31.99
Avanti Mini Pub 5-Liter Beer Tapper $6.09
    Apple iPhone 3GS 32GB (Black) $10.23
    50 Bids Voucher $.20
    Apple iPad 64GB WiFi $50.28
Nintendo Wii Gaming Console with Wii Sports Resort - Black $3.38
    Nintendo DSi Console (Black) $2.61
6 Gram Fine Gold Bar $9.86
    500 Bids Voucher $2.85
Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands (DS) $.01
    LaCie 500 GB Rugged All-Terrain USB 3.0 Portable External Hard D $1.86
    50 Bids Voucher $1.66
8 ounce Fine Silver Bar $3.15
    Alan Wake (Xbox 360) $.07
    Logitech G9x Laser Mouse $.93
    1 Gram Platinum Bar $.82
    300 Bids Voucher $10.15
    50 Bids Voucher $.75

Swoopo says all products are new. So, how does it work? Take the iPad which sold for $81.46. That auction lasted around 5 hours or more. Each bid costs 60 cents to make but are in one penny increments. While Swoopo could theoretically bag 8,146 bids @ 60 cents per, totaling $4,887.60, for an item worth much less, I do believe the price jumps sometimes 10 or 20 cents between bids (didn't figure that out.) When does an auction end? When the timer runs to zero and someone doesn't bid (bidding puts more time on the clock.) Course folks hold back in hopes someone else does it at the last moment, saving them the bid expense.

I've already cancelled my account, fyi.
