  I browse on craigslist and backpage but I have not hired anyone. It is too risky because of LE busts and all you get is a picture and maybe some reviews. I would prefer OTC with stripper because you can meet in person and establish trust.

  another important question I think is: should you go with an escort agency or an independent provider? Agency is probably higher prices but more reliable (although they both are unreliable) and it is easy for Law enforcement to set up fake agencies to make busts although they usually set up fake independent providers to make busts I would guess.

  eros.com , date-check.com , escorts.com are better places to look than craigslist. Or just look at bigdoggie.net (but watch out for fake reviews). Much more often than not, the escort looks much better in her pictures than in person. Typically an escort prefers a customer who will skip right to hiding the salami, finish fast, and take a powder.

  A lot of people who advertise on the web are bait and switch. Several don't use their own photo, some use photo's that are 10 years old. Also, you never know who else is behind the door in an incall situation.

  If you go escoret, try to find an independent or group of indepentents. Around here I'm familiar with Indies of Toledo and Indies of Pittsburgh, for example. They seem less remote. I don't have a lot to compare to on the escort side, but my experience has always been that the stripper take out was a lot more rewarding. But then I know other guys would would say just the opposite!

  I once entered an escort's number in google and it came up with several other website where she posted her number for something completely unrelated to sex. I assume the previous owner of the phone was male, or she shared the phone with her husband/boyfriend.

  I've done a load of escorts, probably over 50. I've looked at backpage before but never been tempted. You might like to know that a lot of photos they use are of EE girls that I know work in London. I saw one in London the day she was supposed to be in Vegas.

  I don't do either these days. I used to have sex with escorts. For the most part, I found that the traveling professionals that I saw were more a GFE experience than some of the locals who often used fake photos. When I got to their incall, I'd turn around and leave after telling them, they looked nothing at all like their ad pics. As far as the dancers, most of them that I talked to in the clubs thought they should get extremely high $$$, I thought otherwise and never pursued it.

  londonguy, I suppose there is no real difference. I just have never contacted an escort by phone or email. Sight unseen. All the hookers I have met were at bars, whore houses or strip clubs. At least I got to see what I was renting upfront.

  I see where you are comng from now Shadowcat. I think that is what ultimately most of us try and achieve, to visit a club and get some extras from a girl we like the look of. Over here most of the reputable
  agencies have photos that do look exactly like the girl. Good quality girls can be had for as little as $200 per hour.

  Have done OTC with dozens of dancers. Always had a reasonably good time.
  
  I have done escorts 4 times. Three were good: received what was promised, no hassle, nice looking girl. All of those 3 I spoke directly with the provider to set up the meet.
  
  The one that was bad was an agency where I spoke with a dispatcher to set-up an incall session. The "dispatcher" instructed me to go to a particular hotel and call her when I was in the parking lot. Did that. She wanted to know what I was driving and where I was parked. Then there was a long delay while she called Tony to have him take a look at me I presume. She finally got back on the line and told me to go to room #____. When I got there, I gave the girl the cash - probably $200, but I really don't remember. That was good for HJ. FS was $1000. I wasn't very happy, and felt very stupid for not asking better questions of the dispatcher. Told the provider to keep the money, and left. Was going to call her a whore-bitch-slut-bottom feeder, but thought about Tony waiting in the parking lot, and decided to just shut up and leave.

  mmdv26, I have read similar stories about that kind of upselling on bigdoggie.net, which is another big reason why I don't bother with setting up meetings with escorts online. You never know what the upselling is going to be and there is not much you can do to get a refund. The escort agencies don't give a shit about their BBB rating.

  Another thought, strippers are usually a better value--dollarwise and confortzone-wise. If you like familiarity and continuity, you can have it with stripper sex. With escorts, the bureaucracy of connecting can be a turnoff and then when you're together, there's often a remoteness to the whole thing. I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions.

  I met her (23 yr old escort) Thur at a Jack n Box. She wanted to eat so I visited with her while she did so. The key thing here is there are going to be surprises so I just go with the flow.   Stay off Craigslist if you're looking for an escort. There are other places like The Erotic Review. There is also a local site here in San Diego that I've had good luck with. As for which do I prefer, it all depends on what kind of mood I'm in!
