A Lane Tech computer teacher has been removed from the campus after he was arrested Tuesday on prostitution-related charges.
Scott Carlson, 41, of the 2300 block of West Thomas Street, is charged with keeping a place of prostitution, a misdemeanor. He was allegedly found waiting in the parking lot of a motel where an undercover police officer was meeting with an suspected prostitute, according to a release from the Cook County Sheriff's office.
Jessica Shea, 21, of the 2900 block of West 56th Street, was also arrested and charged with prostitution when the undercover sheriff's police officer responded to her ad for "escorts" on a social networking site, the release said.
Shea met the officer at the motel where Carlson was found and offered to have sex for money, the release said. A receipt showed the room was rented to and paid for by Carlson.
Carlson was removed Wednesday from the school and from teaching pending the investigation, Chicago Public School's spokeswoman Monique Bond said Thursday afternoon. He is being compensated at his regular salary.
Carlson has been with CPS since September 1997, according to a release. CPS has no records of Shea ever having been a student at Lane Tech.
Carlson and Shea posted $1,000 bond each and were released. They are scheduled for separate hearings Dec. 30 at the Bridgeview courthouse.
