Long Island: The Edison Strip
Recently I referred to the "Edison Strip" in a review, and have since been asked what that is. For the edification of those unfamiliar with this lowlight of Long Island culture, here are some observations I made in response.<br />

The "Edison Strip" is an expression I've heard used for the area of West Babylon, NY, between Edison Ave and Patton Ave, that clearly has "Adult-Entertainment-Friendly" zoning rules. It's a series of mostly non-residential streets comprising mainly industrial and business units between two major cemeteries with a large power station and what I assume is a landfill in the middle. It's a very weird place, but it can be good to visit if you need something quick and satisfying. It's not so good, however, if what you want is to spend a stretch of time around a lot of pretty girls, watching a stage show, bonding with babes and tipping for little treats.<br />

I know of four establishments of interest there, though one of them, Tunnel of Love on Gleam St, doesn't seem very interesting to me. It's a porn DVD/Video store that also has a couple of girls hanging around the store offering lap dances. I've never seen a girl there who was pretty enough to tempt me to try one, so I've no idea what kind of tip was required to get what service.<br />

Show World, on Field Street, also has DVDs and Videos on offer in the main store, but in the back is a large open area where you can visit and chat briefly with the girls before choosing one for a peep show or a lap dance. As I understand it, the peep show is $5 to open the shutter (I don't know how long it stays open, I haven't tried this) and then tip the girl to get her to strip and play with herself, and you're free to do likewise, but she's behind glass so there's no touching. The lap dances are $25 for 15 minutes and $50/30m, but that's just to get in the room (a private room with a sofa) with the girl. Tips seem to start at $60 for 15 minutes' nude lap dance with some touching, and maybe for that depending on the girl she might give you a HJ or just let you take care of yourself while you watch her wiggle or feel her grind. YMMV, of course.<br />

X Dreams II on Nancy St and Cherri Bombs on Kean St offer similar deals. X Dreams has a larger DVD/Video store. Both offer peep-show style booths where you put a dollar bill in the slot to open the shutter on a window into a girls' sitting room, and one comes to the window to sell you a lap dance. You might be able to get the girl to strip behind the glass for a modest tip but it isn't really worth it, IMO, because the shutter is going to close on you very fast unless you keep feeding it those dollar bills.<br />

At Cherri Bombs, the girl who comes to the window will offer herself to you and then introduce the other girls in the room. One of them will probably be a shemale. At X Dreams, the girl who comes to your window will not introduce you to the other girls and will probably block your view, and anyway the light is poor, so if you want to see all the girls on offer you probably have to let the window keep closing, then feed it again and hope they're working a round-robin system.<br />

If you choose to have a dance with one of the girls, the system is much the same at either Cherri Bombs or X Dreams as at Show World. You go back to the desk, ask for the girl you want and pay up front for the time. X Dreams offers $30/10m, whereas Cherri Boms is $25/10m, but both are $50/20m. Then once in the room (again, private with sofa) you tip her. Again, $60 should get you 10 minutes basic with finish. As I understand it, much more is available for the right tip.<br />

Anyway, take no notice of anything on the wipeboard at either place that speaks of a "minimum tip", as the small amounts suggested will get you nothing from your girl but derision.<br />

So you see, these are not places where you can go to spend any length of time in the company of cuties without dropping a fair amount of money, but if you are willing to spend $100 you're at least going to get to pop your cork with one, should you choose. That said, I've sometimes been over there, done a quick tour of all the joints, not seen a single girl cute enough to tempt the $100 out of my wallet, and driven home with my load intact. The quality varies considerably, but I have met some stunners there.<br />
