America's Active/Closed Club Listings Count

Thursday, June 8, 2023 9:03 PM
Just wanted to take a quick head count before what many believe is going to be a little bit a rough stretch economy wise coming up, if not already. I think we'll see a lot of clubs go down, for sure the number of closed clubs will surpass the active count. Put some hard numbers up post covid and pre recession, so we can look back and compare a couple years from now to see the damage.

All numbers just approximate don't hold me to them exact, I likely fucked up somewhere, here and there.

TUSCL Listings overall: 3364 Active and Closed all together

Closed listings total count: 1636

Active Listings: 1710 active strip clubs we'll say, subtracted for some spas/massage spots I could tell about 18, some others might be but I can't tell from the club name.

Sinclair's previous census counts:
United States October 2008: 2,536 strip clubs
United States October 2020: 1,914 strip clubs
And now in 2023: 1710 strip clubs

Some of that likely natural attrition, social media, only fans, sugar stuff online and then of course some places closed for Covid and never reopened. Still since 2008 almost 1K clubs went down. About a third. A lot of places are in no danger whatsoever of going under but some of those little clubs just hanging on right now are probably not gonna make it through a big time recession I would think. Also one thing to note is listings may not by completely up to date, to catch up somebody would have to notify founder if a club is closed and certain areas that doesn't have a ton activity that might be a little while.

And finally what I got right now for active/closed listings breakdown by state:

we are losing. The prudes are winning.
and part of it is due to mismanagement.

    Factors include:
    The explosion in internet porn.
Increased pricing of strip club "services."
A weakened economy. (At one of my favorite clubs, VIP dances went from $20 to $10 when the economy tanked in 2008. The economy recovered, was robust, and dances went back to $20 each. The economy has weakened again and dances at that same club are now $40 each. WTF?)
And as Jascoi pointed out, the Prudes are Winning, the Prudes Are Winning! One if by land and two if by sea. The former POTUS was right, I am tired of all the winning. I am tired of the wrong people winning and making the majority of the population suffer for it. Get out and vote. Which party favors a law that requires a brothel for every 100,000 in population?

And although this topic provokes a discussion, minnow is on target, as there is some complexity and some research offered, making this more appropriate as an article. (That said, I personally think that if this were a "Discussion" it would get more attention than an article. YMMV)

Great article. I wrote a similar one a while back: https://tuscl.net/article/59040
Despite a 3-4% decrease in number of clubs per year, there is also a 5-6% increase in costs.
It's not about prudes, it's just a vicious economic cycle.
By 2030, the US will have a quarter less clubs, entry cover will be $75, and average VIPs will be $800-1000 per hour. Dejavu and Rick's will become the Pepsi/American/Mariott and Coke/Delta/Hilton of clubs across the US.
As PLs price out and there is more OnlyFans/VR over time, clubs will close, and DJV and Ricks will jack prices up even further. So get your fill today or open a brokerage account to keep up with the prices.

A lot of those closed clubs are now operating under a new name in the same location.

Initially inclined to check DB box, but 1 of tuscl's esteemed denizens put far more effort into this than a lot of d-bags put into upvoted reviews, this get's my upvote. Should generate some discussion on the reasons some clubs went out of business.
