Trusty ole’ Medellin

In early October, I made a brief trip to Medellin, Colombia. I made this trip because I was going to Cartagena for the very first time. So in anticipation of the land unknown, I felt the need to stop in trusty ole’ Medellin for a guaranteed good time. Medellin is a good time 7 days a week. I was in Medellin on a Wednesday and Thursday and both days were good.
I arrived on a Wednesday night in Medellin Colombia around 6 or 7pm. After checking into my hotel near El Poblado, I went to the La Setenta Street in Medellin. This street/calle is known as Medellin’s party strip and it is less touristy than Parque Lleras and El Poblado. There are more natives here and some inexpensive, decent quality restaurants here. The bars and clubs are always lively even in the middle of the week.
As I was eating on the patio of this one Colombian restaurant (sorry guys I forget the name), I had a buddy from high school (who frequents Colombia quite often) text my phone. He was stuck in Colombia as the hurricane was ripping up his residence in central Florida.
He located me on the restaurant patio and as we talked a bit. He then convinced me to visit Fase Dose. Apparently, he met some half Colombian, half Thai woman that he “fell in love” with. Now my last 3 visits to Fase Dose totally sucked. I really wasn’t interested in going, but after I finished my dinner, I reluctantly went.
I’m so glad I did. While it still doesn’t surpass La Isla for me, it has definitely Fase Dose has definitely step their game up and worth a review (see Fase Dos review).
Over the next 2 days in Medellin, I took it easy. I visited their malls and gyms, you know some other things outside of mongering. I even went to this restaurant called Colossal which was very much worth the visit. Colossal is an upscale dining experience with great views. Although it’s upscale (like El botanico in Medellin), the cost is still a fraction of a fancy restaurant in the United States.
I didn’t get a chance to visit luna Lunera, as I heard it sucked. So I checked out Loutron during the day. If you never been to Loutron, it’s this brothel where girls come into the bar area with lingerie, spin around, then you pick one to get a massage with and blow their back out. The girls are pretty good looking, classy (I mean classy to the extent of a hooker) and look well kept. While I have partook on the Loutron girl’s services on prior visits, there was nothing I “had to have” and I left and went to Colossal restaurant for my lunch/dinner.
