Young, dumb, and broke: back in the beginning.

Left for the army at 18. I was pretty young for my age I have to admit. Took my lumps and made it through basic and MOS training before I saw my first stripper ever. They were afraid to turn us loose on the town, so took us to an enlisted club as a unit and they had a dancer hired. Beer , food and boobs (well almost). She gyrated around a lot and put on a great tease but never got beyond bikini. At that point after 12 weeks of isoloation (not to mention my age), it didn’t take much to get a kid excited. I had never seen anything like it, at least not in real life. So a good portion of what few dollars a private had went to this young lady (probably a good 4 years older than me). I do remember she danced to “love stinks” by J.Geils band.
It wasn’t long after that I deployed to unit. I was the new guy, so caught a lot of shit but eventually I got shown to the local watering holes. So , between humping through the woods, jumping from planes and riding choppers, we would hit the Titty bar. (actually there were several but we had couple favorites) not counting the Asian bars. The first one was Ricks. Not the first pair of titties I’d seen but definitely the best and in the light as well. If I remember right (OK you can tell it’s been a while, as I was bar hopping at 18), it was $4 cover. Long necks were either $2 or $2.50, can’t remember. It was a split place, with bar and stage and pool tables on one side and , through the door (no extra charge) was a neat set up, wear toppless girls bartended , each in their own U-shaped bar. Pull up a stool and gawk while you drink. If you tipped she would give you a really close (close- no touch) look.
The main bar however was the most interesting. Dancers rotated up on the single stage, usually 4 or more at a time. You could go up and tip a buck and get a close show and , without fail, anything from a quick kiss on the lips to a tongue rammed half way down your throat while she latched onto your head. Kissing was the norm on the other side as well, as long as you KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!!!! These girls all went down to topless and G-sting. There was never any Vag exposed that I can remember (and I would have remembered!!!!!!!!!) Gina got a bit wasted one night and flashed the bootie hole a few times. That’s a long term memory I’m happy to still have LOL.
They were all hot!!! (though 19y/o eyes anyway). Most prob 18-26ish). There were my favs. Gina, Molly, Raven, and a few others. Mostly white and Asian, though a couple of awesome ebonies did pass through. And upstairs was a bikni bar we would frequently hit before leaving. They didn’t get topless and you had to pay another cover, but it was quieter and the girls would sit with you when not on stage.
Well, here is the point of this story. We (I) was poor/broke and Naive as hell. But at $4 cover and $2 beer there wasn’t a whole lot of money coming in. Most of us couldn’t/didn’t tip more than a buck at a time. There did not appear to be any private dances, lap dances, or dance booths anywhere and I never heard talk of any. Sometimes the girls would sit with guys at the bar but most of the time after they got off stage they went back stage til they were called out again. I imagine they could make 15 to 20 a rotation, maybe. One time a hot babe (used to work bikini upstairs and I had a crush) came and sat with me. I offered to buy a drink and she accepted and we had small talk. Drink was pricey but not bad. She did seem to be maybe getting her courage up to say something but never really getting to it (HMMMMM???...did I mention I was young/dumb). But then moved along, went back stage and waited for her rotation. There was never a dancer drink hustle to speak of.
So,,, where did these girls make their money???? I guess they could make $50-$100 a night on tips. Was that enough?? (I think min wage was like $3.25 back then). I know I wasn’t missing any private dancing. In fact I never heard of such a thing til my buddies bachelor party in 1990. Were the bars paying them some to dance (and get us in there??? We kept it packed). I know the Asian clubs had a heavy drink hustle, but nothing here or, that I had seen, in any of the other topless clubs. We are talking early 80s here. Any of you older gents have any insite?? Thinking back on it, if I’d been a bit less young n dumb I could have had a lot more fun. After all, I only really needed to have $4 on Mondays for a haircut and all else could have been applied to these young ladies college funds. Oh well, everything always clearer in the rear view.
