I went on a Monday night...
I went on a Monday night which is traditionally very slow, and it was this night. There were about a dozen customers and the same number of dancers. There were a couple of black dancers and the rest were white. Most were average, in the 5 to 7 range, but there were at least two or three 9's.
This club used to be quite popular but was closed for a year because of court order. The city went out of its way to close it down, and swore it would never re-open. The official reason was that it was too close to a school, but who knows what the real reason was. Anyways, many of the staff went over to work across the street at its sister club, All-Stars. However, when the Penthouse re-opened, many of them returned. Both clubs were open for a couple of months, but because of lack of business, they have since closed All-Stars. Business had been slow at both clubs. Perhaps the reason were publicized reports of mob ownership. For Sopranos fans, the owner used to own a club in New Jersey and was supposedly the model for Tony Soprano.
The club is very nicely decorated with a large main stage in the middle, and two small side stages. It is certainly one of the top 5 in decor for Houston. About a dozen booths line the walls, where you can get some good dances. There are many large fish tanks which are quite attractive. On this night, dancers only had to do a couple of songs on the main stage.
