This place wasn't listed on TUSCL...
This place wasn't listed on TUSCL when I did my quick check, so I wandered across it by accident walking toward the clubs I'd read were the best in town. Turns out all those clubs are now closed and Heaven is supposed to be the best of what's left (so says John the Cabbie but I'm getting ahead of the story). So when I was at The Buddhist (the first club of the night, also not listed and found by accident) I made the fateful decision not to stay. In Bucharest, that meant trying to find my way around an unfamiliar town without a car. The last cabbie I had didn't know where the hell he was going, so I got the brilliant idea to walk to next stop. I was told "go that way", so I was walking a good while checking the cabbie doors driving by for one that was less than 2 lei per km. Then out of nowhere I spot a neon sign with a pair of girly legs next to "HEAVEN". Continue wandering aimlessly or stop to check it out. After all, it did have the universal symbol for naked chics.
You can't get to the club from the street, so follow the signs into a poorly lit courtyard and go left. From there you walk into a lobby and make another turn into a door. Just inside that door is another door that is closed. You'll also see what look like spiral stairs going up to the left. Don't walk up them if you're looking to get into the club. There's a doorbell and an intercom. If you don't speak Romanian, just say something like hello and you'll get buzzed in. Walk down some stairs that wind down into a basement area where you will be faced with a half dozen of the hottest girls you'll see in town. Very narrow club in the main area, with the bar directly in front of the entrance and a few couches down on the other end in a space the size of a small rowhouse floor. Nicely appointed decor. It got the 6 club rating for what happened next. Since I was still determined to see more clubs in town I was just planning to take a quick look. The MO at Buddhist is a lot different, so I didn't know I was supposed to buy a drink just to stay. Sat down on one of the couches and pick up a menu. Multiple pages of drinks a prices, with the last one dedicated to a dancer drink list.
The bartender comes over and I ask for a Red Bull and vodka. Just after she walks away I notice print that says one drink minimum for 200 lei. That's a little over $100 USD, when I haven't figured out if this is the place I want to camp for a while. So I excuse myself from the brunette who'd sat next to me and said no thanks to the drink until I chatted with the painfully hot brunette who I somehow missed on the way in. I didn't really miss her, just had a little sensory overload right as I realized I was alone in a dark basement club with only exit I could see. The bartender's english wasn't great, but she knew enough to say something along the lines of "get out". As I would find out later, just about all the clubs in town require a pre-purchase of a lady drink just to sit down. So I'm getting escorted back up to the door by a pissed off barmaid (who had a nice body on her, too) wondering if I should charm my way back down to really see what's up. Opted to hit the bricks again with an idea to possibly go back if nothing else seemed promising in town. The door slams behind me and I make my way back out to the street.
