This low-key club is small and comfortable. Drinks are reasonably priced, especially before 7pm, and there is never a cover. The 50's-style diner layout with booths and a long bar caters to the local neighborhood crowd. There really isn't space for a large raucous group. Lit mainly by black lights and the neon signs behind the bar, dancers perform on a single raised stage with a pole in the corner. They select the music themselves from a jukebox located next to the stage and tend to play classic rock and indie music. The dressing room is on the other side of the long bar, so dancers either get dressed on the stage's stairs or walk half-nude across the club.
The girls that perform at the Hawthorne Strip tend to be girl-next-door types, as the bar's requirements for body type, clothing, and hair removal are not as strict as other strip clubs. They are generally white and vary in appearance from short and overweight to tall and skinny, but none of them are the tall, fake-breasted, fully-waxed, stripper-boots-wearing bombshells so common at the bigger venues. In other words, if you prefer amateur porn to porn with high production values, this might be your place, otherwise you might want to stick with The Acropolis or other standards.
I will definitely return to this place regularly, because I like the chill vibe, the price is right, and the girls are different and seem more down-to-earth than other places.
