Three Days and Three Different Experiences
Thursday was mild weather and there was a mild crowd at about 10:00 PM. The club straddles the block. We entered through a parking garage, greeted by a big dyke in some kind of official-looking uniform. We were given a brief pat down and pointed up the short set of stairs to the meseros waiting for their next victim. (Apparently this was the back entrance.) Actually, that is not a fair characterization. Most of the staff at all of the clubs were very nice and not nearly as aggressive as is typical in Tijuana.
We sat in a booth next to the stage (without any grief this time). Buddy ordered a beer for 50,000cop (and I had “agua con gas” (mineral water) for 30,000cop ($0.75US).
The “décor” was a little bit “gritty” compared to the rest of the clubs. A hodge podge of tables and booths scattered about the room. A long, narrow stage with three poles was located at the center of the room. The bar was against the wall near the back entrance. Apparently, the orders are limited to bottled beer, water, pitcher of beer or a bottle of hard liquor. The vast majority of the clients had pitchers on their tables. Bottles for name brands, such as Jameson and Jonny Walker, were available for 130,000cop to 250,000cop.
