Gone Too Soon
The door is propped open, so you can see inside from the street. There is a large main stage in the center of the room and some small poles scattered around. There were no dancers present at all and there was no music playing. It was very dark inside, so I could not see if it was actually clean or not. Everyone inside was geriatric, white beards only. They were drinking their beers.
The bar girl was cute and thick. It's cash only. I don't remember the cost of a drink, but I paid with a $10 and told her to keep the change. I asked her where the dancers were. She said that since the owner died, there was some situation with the city and now it's just a bar. The stages and showgirls sign are just part of the decor. She said women can come in and dance up on the stages, but no one can get naked and they don't hire dancers, so only people that used to dance there can come in and dance clothed for tips. She said only one girl still comes sometimes.
I'll never come back. There are better bars on both sides of the building as well as across the street. It was extremely quiet in there, so if you're over 80, this might actually be an ideal spot. I was in town on business, so I figured I would check things out. Apparently all these developments with the city ordinance are fresh. There can be another strip club in Augusta, but not in the historic, tourist area like this one.
