Visited: Sunday Evening

We went to Sapphires on Sunday night around 10PM. This was the fourth club I visited during my time in Vegas for a guy’s trip to watch and gamble on the NFL playoffs. By this point, half the group had gone home so it was a much smaller and a little bit more subdued crew. We had hit up the other major clubs by this point (also reviewed) and just wanted to try Sapphires to round out the trip. Those of us who were still left ended up taking a taxi to the club so we had to pay the cover (think it was $40-50/person). Sapphires might be the most well-known Vegas club, but for those who haven’t been in a while the club is like a huge warehouse with strobe lights and music videos playing on the walls. One thing I wish these clubs did is to turn down the volume a tick or two. I can’t hear anything that anyone is saying to me even when they’re right next to me, and I always end up with a headache by the end of the night. Sapphires probably has more of a casino night club vibe than Spearmint Rhino and similar to the Peppermint Hippo and Crazy Horse 3 in that respect. The very high ceilings due to the VIP/private skyboxes also give it a different vibe where you don’t feel as claustrophobic as in some clubs.

Anyway, the club layout is pretty simple with a huge floor populated with individual tables and lounge chairs flanked by a bar on either end. On a “slower” night, they’ll cut the floor seating in half with a curtain and put everyone in the front of the club like they did on this night. The middle of the club has a raised platform which I think is connected to the VIP skyboxes and dancers come down this walkway from upstairs to dance at various stations before ending up at a surprisingly small stage on the main floor that has a pole. The bathroom is located at the back of the main floor next to the secondary bar and the VIP rooms are off in this area as well.

Same as the other clubs, the hosts all asked if you wanted to buy a bottle which none of us did at this point. At least here, they didn’t make a big deal about not getting bottles and said that we could sit at any table as long as we were buying drinks which was lot more reasonable than what we were told at Spearmint Rhino where it was basically buy a bottle or sit at the stupid satellite stage (see my review).
