Visited: Sunday Evening

I visited Sahara from about 7pm to 8:40pm on Sunday April 24, 2022. I would have expected this timing at the shift change would be a problem and it was. I had been to the baseball game at Angel Stadium and my plan was to come to Sahara after the game for an hour or so near the end of the day shift and then go to dinner at the Mexican restaurant that’s in the same shopping center as Sahara However the ball game ran rather long and it took the big crowd a long time to get out of the parking lot so by the time I got there it was time to eat. By the time I finished dinner and walked over to the club it was almost 7. By the way this restaurant has a bar if one wants to pregame for the non-alcohol club.

As mentioned the club is in a shopping center on the southeast corner of the intersection of State College blvd and Ball Rd. The shopping center has a lot of parking. The club itself is rather small and occupies part of a much larger building. One enters a small vestibule. No security stuff. Cover was $20 and was advised a one drink minimum, which is the same as a $10 minimum since that was the price of all of the drinks. One of the two servers hit me up for the drink soon after I entered. I just had bottled water which was at least a large one in a fancy bottle. The bar is just a service area not a sit at bar. The doorman pointed out that there were a number of places with steps up or down that were hard to see since the club was very dark.

The club is rectangular entrance at one narrow end. In the middle is a rectangular stage,, one pole, with an ordinary tip rail with about 15 chairs surrounding it on 3 sides. The stage was lit with banks of colored lights that changed color from time to time. They too dim overall, sitting at the stage one could hardly tell if the dancer was nude or not. On three sides back from the stage were couches with rows of small tables. On the short side where the entrance was and the right long side there were another set of couches and tables elevated up a step. The service bar was at the center of the short side away from the entrance. To its left was the entrance to the dancers dressing room. To the right was a passage that contained the restroom and I believe led to the more private dance spaces. The restroom had a sign that just said “Restroom” but was in fact a men’s restroom, clean enough. What restroom facilities might be available for female customers I’m not clear about.
