Passing the time in BIshops Corner

I found myself in Bridgeport for work on a Friday afternoon so I decided to stop by. The bar is in what looks like to be a old house in a semi-residential neighborhood at the intersection of two more or less major streets. I found on-the-street parking; there was a car parked on the front yard of the bar, but I am not sure if that was actually a parking lot. I am not sure how safe the area is at night, but there was enough activity in the day that I didn't feel unsafe.

I walked in the side door, and paid the guy a cover charge (I think $10). The bar had a typical dive feel. There was a stage for dancing, but dancing didn't seem to be the point here. There were some dudes at the bar--about what you'd expect to be at a bar on a workday.There were maybe five dancers hanging about. The music seemed many in Spanish; much of it seemed to be Mexican music, although none of the dancers seemed Mexican (although I didn't do a survey of all of them).

I paid $6 (I think) for a Mexican beer. Even before I sat down, a larger middle-aged woman approached me. I don't believe in naming names here, but based on the other reviews she is a known quantity. She was friendly, I guess, but I wasn't really into her. She tried to talk about the weather, her vacation plans, my cell phone, and even international politics. She claimed to be from a large city a bit of a drive away (which I guess is possible) but gave as cross streets two parallel streets, so I am somewhat dubious. (I am also not sure why she would feel compelled to tell me where she lived in any case.) She asked me several times to buy her a beer, or to get some dances. Each time I tried to politely tell her I wasn't interested, but she persisted. Finally, I took my beer and went to the restroom, then sat somewhere else when I came back.
