Miss the good old days at Club Rouge
In the area for some business, so I decided to stop by Rouge on a recent Saturday. I came around 11pm. Friday and Saturday 10 dollar cover all day, all other days 5 bucks. Before COVID, Rouge opened at 11am. Nowadays Rouge opens at 5 pm. Also worth to note Rouge was the very LAST club in Portland to reopen after COVID.
Rouge usually has a cute girl collecting the cover. Talking to her might have been the best part of the night. There is an ATM right by why you pay the cover, and another ATM in the club by the DJ booth. The withdrawal fee is around $10 though. There is a bank ATM across the street from Rouge, so that would be your best bet if you need to withdraw money. You walk inside and there’s a main stage in front of you, to the right of you there are 3 mini stages. The mini stages are for the minors. The minors still go on the main stage, but since they can’t sit down and mingle with the customers, they hang out on the mini stage, and the customers can talk to them there. Seating is spread out throughout the club, it’s a big club though, I feel like they should have more seating. Drink prices are normal with the other Portland “upscale” clubs.
The club has a party atmosphere, music mainly hip hop and R&B, but they play the same songs over and over and over. But then again who goes to the strip club for the music. The customers are mainly in the younger crowd (20s and 30s). They have some lottery machines you can play by the DJ booth. A lot of times on the weeknights there is not a waitress, so there’s always this huge line at the bar because it will be just the bartender. Before COVID they had seats at the bar, but not anymore. It’s the same COVID rules as most everywhere else. If you’re standing up or walking without a drink, you have to have your mask on. If you’re standing up, but you have a drink, you don’t have to have your mask on. If you’re sitting down, you don’t need to have a mask on.
