I hadn't been to this place in over three decades and it had never been a favorite of mine but as I was unable to get into Sin City and wanted to hit one more club I thought what the heck let me see what's up with Cheerleaders these days. As I pulled in, I could see the parking lot was packed; I had to go around back to find a spot. Coming in, there's a temperature check--which you give yourself--and you have to print and sign your name and note the temperature then pay the cover, which was $10--reasonable for the day and time. Inside, it was bigger than I remembered... a large rectangular room with a big rectangular bar around a long stage on which three dancers were dancing. Another smaller stage was off to the left between the bar and the wall. The place was filled to about 90 percent of capacity and there were tons of dancers; it was impossible to count them given the crowd but I'd say there were at least 30 and there could have been more. They were mostly young --in the 19 - 26 range, attractive--in the 6 to 8 range, and white of different ethnicities including some Eastern Europeans and some Latina-looking types. Not one AA dancer, which is kind of unusual considering the number of dancers it's Philly. The vibe was great--most everyone seemed to be having a good time, watching the dancer rotation (though only one of the dancers ever took off her top); the dancers rotate through the four stations (the three main ones and the stage off to the side) at the rate of two songs per station. Then they do the dollar parade, which can get rather annoying considering how many dancers were in the parade. Some wanted to know if I wanted to have "fun" and when inquired what that involved the menu presented was $165 for 15 minutes and escalating amounts for 30 minutes and an hour. When I asked if there was a per-dance option I was told that there was at $30 per song but that the "minutes" blocks were "more fun" because they were "more private." Though the dancers were consistently attractive none particularly excited me except one olive skin beauty with long, curly hair and a great body enhanced by bolt-ons, which is not something I like. But she didn't make to my end of the bar in the hour I was there. In any case, I would not got for a block of time at those rates without road-testing the dancer first on a per-song basis. So to sum-up, Cheerleaders is an enjoyable place with attractive dancers but it is big and on a night like this it has an assembly-line feel. Can't say how much "fun" is to be had in the private area but I suspect it would depend on the dancer.
