i was on the road with my friend from boston to nyc when we decided to make a pit stop at scruples. my friend had been there before and said it was pretty good, so i didn't need too much convincing. cover was like $6 (i think). inside, there's a bar by the entrance. customers sitting around with a few dancers conversing with them. there's one large stage in the middle with a few poles. chairs all around the stage. there's a vip area in the back that's just a bunch of couches in a circle. you're in plain view of bouncer when you're back there. most of the customers seem to be regulars or locals. beers are served in cans, and are about $4. don't remember all the details, but i think there's about 4 dancers on the stage at once, going from seat to seat working the crowd for dollar bills. oh yeah, this is a topless bar. the quality of dancers is pretty variable in my opinion. some really pretty ones, and some not so great ones. so plenty of variety for every guy. the dancers stay on stage for 3 or so songs. there was this older asian lady walking around selling massage/back rubs to customers ($20). i passed. my friend got one and said that it was pretty good. dunno if it's always like that, but it was tough to get private dances. the dancers just didn't make many rounds, and didn't put much effort into hustling guys for dances. i finally got a private dance from a hot (imo) brunette. she was a little older looking, but her face was still nice, and her body was tight like a tiger. forget her stage name...i can't seem to remember any names in my old age. i was surprised to find out that private dances allow for plenty of contact. my hands were allowed to roam relatively free, and there was plenty of grinding. went for 3 songs ($20 a pop), and left happy. all in all, a worthwhile trip. i'd definitely go again, but only if it's on the way. not really worth a dedicated trip from nyc out to connecticut.
