Visited the Furnace for the first...
Visited the Furnace for the first time this past weekend. I read the somewhat mixed reviews here and felt the need to investigate.
Location: It's odd how this place can be located right in the middle of Boringham and still be in the middle of nowhere. Their website does offer a link to Mapquest (or something), but it doesn't really show you how to get there. After wasting a good 20 mins coming off I20, I finally found it. I'd offer some details, but to be honest I don't know how I stumbled onto the place. Not good for repeat business.
Building: The building itself is impressive. The place is fairly large yet maintains an intimate atmosphere -- kudos to the architect/interior designers. The building has 2 levels. On the first floor there's a main seating area facing the main stage. This area is flanked by 2 catwalk stages. The outer areas have tables and chairs, with one side housing a bar and a TV viewing area. The ever-important couches are located here too. Upstairs is a VIP area (I guess). I was told that there's a charge to go up there, but they were waving the charge this night. The VIP area has it's own bar as well as more seating and couches. The middle of the VIP area is open allowing for full view of the stages below. There's a bar well as VIP rooms for extra privacy. I didn't partake at this time. Sadly, the facilities were the highpoint of my visit.
