The website says all this upscale...
The website says all this upscale and luxurious stuff, but The Pin-up Girl Lounge looks and feels like a spruced-up Mustang Sally’s. The parking lot is identical, and the interior layout is similar but larger, with the bar on one wall and the stage on the opposite one. $10 dances are available in the threadbare wheelchairs on the main floor. For $20, you can move to some simple, hard vinyl benches. VIP has a buy-in, followed by $25 / song dances unless the dancers set their own VIP prices like in some clubs. Songs play out to a reasonable length.
The place is open until 2AM. I showed up at 11:30 Friday, busy time for popular clubs. There were a few customers and four or five dancers. Problem: when the DJ announces that the girl on stage is available for private shows, she disappears into the back room only to return fully dressed and ready to go home. I’m really annoyed that it happened with the dancer who got me excited with her stage show. At a few minutes ‘til one, a petite young Black dancer gave me her $20 show on the benches. Lighting made it impossible to see her face when she came close. A good performance, but not a good value. In Phoenix, a show like that can be had for less money in nicer confines. And the drinks are overpriced, too.
Rumor has it that ownership or management is changing or just changed, so I’ll give it a few months and try again.
