Trying to have safe fun
I went to ATL last Saturday, last minute, semi-planned trip to hook up with a friend. After we did our thing during the day, I ended up with free time on my hands and an urge for more excitement. Interesting side note, I met my friend at Follies a few years ago while she danced at Follies. She has since graduated from college and moved to another town and on to a career in her field. We are now "friends with benefits".
Anyway, I have been very safety conscious since the pandemic started, but curiosity got the best of me Saturday night. Funny thing, another dancer I met who danced at Follies until they closed told me that she was dancing at Wax that night. I was curious to see her and see the club. The bitch never showed or returned my texts. I arrived at Wax around 11:15 pm Saturday night. The parking attendant said it was $5 to park in back or 20 in front. I wasn't completely comfortable parking in one of the last few spaces at the far end of the back lot, out of concern for my car. The parking guy said the rates doubled after midnight. Still, I didn't feel like paying $20 to park in the front. I drove to the end of the back lot, fortunately there was a 2nd guy working back there and guiding cars into spaces. He stayed there the whole night.
Cover charge was $20. I masked up, but nobody working the front had a mask. There was a thermometer next to the cash register, but they weren't using it. The club was about half full with customers, only 4 or 5 of them had masks on (about 10%) There were about 30 dancers on the floor, 3 or 4 of them had on masks (about 10%). I went to the back bar and got a $6 mixed drink. I was pleasantly surprised at the relatively low price! The bartenders had on masks. I tried to find an open table, but they were mostly taken, and no social distancing, lol.
