I paid a visit to The Furnace on a recent trip to Birmingham. I had been to Sammy's earlier (read Sammy's reviews) and I wanted to see what this place was all about. First off, it's a lot bigger than Sammy's. The building is located on the east side of Birmingham in what is for the most part, a very industrial looking part of town (a little unusual, I thought). The club is in a well protected, fenced lot. I don't think you would ever need to worry about vandalism to your car there. The building itself is a two story, expansive complex that would rival any big city club. The last place I saw anything that big or elaborate was in Dallas or Atlanta. It does look very upscale. I expected a little more from the girls there though. Granted they were nice. I just don't think they had anything on the girls at Sammy's. The club has a second level that is VIP only. There are somewhat private rooms upstairs that you can rent out at $100 per hour. I got a couch dance downstairs ($10 a dance) with this Russian girl. I was curious about the VIP rooms so I went upstairs after booking a room (it came to $120 total with a $20 fee for using a credit card). The couch dance was OK, but nothing extra resulted. The girl wanted $200 for her time, which I paid in cash. I don't know how close they watch the rooms or if there were any hidden cameras. So, with that being said, I don't know if it's up to the girl you take up there as to what happens or not. I just know that all I got was a couch dance and nothing more. Still yet, if you're in Birmingham, it's worth checking out if you have nothing better to do.
