Its Nice But Not My First Choice
I've been to the Venue a few times. The club itself is pretty decent. There's the main stage in the center with two side stages. A really long bar with plenty of seats. I've been to this place during the day and at night, I've never seen it fully packed but I've also never seen it empty. It's right across the street from Club 205, which I think is a better club. Just like 205, the Venue has the vibe of a blue-collar neighborhood bar. Though, the crowd tends to be more diverse. I get the impression that there's a lot of regulars that go here.
To enter, I think the cover is about $5. The bouncer pats you down and checks you with a metal detector. They scan your ID when you enter. I've heard they've had some problems in the past with fights breaking out.
It seems like there's more of a diversity in dancers than across the street at Club 205. There tends to be more AA and Hispanic dancers here. The dancers vary in looks and body type. It didn't seem like there were a lot of tattood and pierced up girls that you see at the more alternative clubs in Portland. More hip hop, than rock at this club.
